Summary

Windcast does not collect, store, or share any personal data. The app works by querying public weather APIs and saving your searches exclusively on your device.

Data the app does NOT collect

• No user accounts are created
• We do not collect your name, email, or any contact information
• No third-party analytics or trackers are used (no Firebase, no Mixpanel, nothing of the sort)
• We do not share any information with third parties for advertising purposes

Data that leaves your device

When you search for a location or query historical weather data, the app makes calls to:

• Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com): An open-source weather API. Geographic coordinates (latitude/longitude) and dates are sent to retrieve historical weather data. Open-Meteo may log these requests in technical logs that are deleted after 90 days. They do not associate this data with your identity.
• Apple MapKit: Apple’s geocoding service used to convert place names into coordinates. The text you type in the search field is sent to Apple’s servers. Apple may process these queries according to its own privacy policy.

Data stored on your device

Any searches you save (spot, date, session time window) are stored exclusively on your iPhone using UserDefaults. They are not synced to any server. You can delete them at any time from within the app or by uninstalling it.

Notifications

If you grant permission, the app may send you local reminders about your saved searches. These notifications are generated on your device and do not involve any communication with external servers.

Children

This app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from minors.
